Played tourist in my hometown last weekend with my hubby and Tori in PDX.

We found some new joints and visited some old haunts!
FRIDAY NIGHT:
5pm Dinner and games (Yahtzee and Marbles) at my Dad & his wife Kathy 's home. Boy, can she cook!! An Ethiopian dish w/ rice and some clarified Ethiopian spiced butter for the bread. Dessert? You bet! Homemade Marionberry (or was it huckleberry) ice cream and a lemon bar! YUM....

8:30pm We were off to N. PDX for our first new joint
"The Tardis Room" - https://www.facebook.com/The-Tardis-Room-281718518561925/ We met the owner, Mic, who was manning the bar (short handed for the evening). We ordered the 10th & 11th Dr's and tried the "chips"! Totally rocked the scale of scrumptiousness! Roanne !! If you're ever in PDX, you have to have the Fish & Chips here!!! <3 No pictures! You just have to go there if you've never been!!! So interesting and a GREAT patio out back in the garden.

10pm Third stop: just down the street. An old haunt!!
The Alibi Tiki Lounge (A North Portland staple of tropical fun and amateur lounge singers aka karaoke crooners). We had the best seat in the house too, right next to the stairs where EVERYONE seemed to travel at least one pass or two... You could totally make a movie here and not need a costume designer! Dreads & Skateboards; Glittered stilettos and evening dresses; island wear and everything else in between! Dorris Wedding online sale maternity evening party wears

1:30am Hotel. Thank goodness for technology and digital keys!

SATURDAY we started out at the Hotcake House. That Gyro's omelette? Yeah, do that one!!
This is a favorite haunt of mine from those crazy late nights with my dearest friends Francine (God Rest her sweet wild soul) and Christina and Krista & Woody sometimes joined us. What memories we have! <3 Love you all <3

Then we headed Downtown for a little shopping and strolling.
Stopped in at Case Study Coffee to top off the caffeine levels across from Mult Co Lib - Downtown Branch. https://www.facebook.com/Case-Study-Coffee-325038377563215/

ME: I want that rich and yummy potent shot in the small glass... not a dopio or cappuccino or Americano, but that one.... um.... rich, shot of cream... um....
BARISTA: A Cortado?
ME: Yeah, that's it!! PERFECTION!!!

Then we wandered down to 10 Barrel Brewery - a new joint to check out. Reprieve from the heat! Hint: Don't go up top during the mid-day! No shade! Sat downstairs and gave the cider a try! Tasty. https://www.facebook.com/10BarrelBrewingPDX/

Ok. Powell's Books, here we come! Very busy. Not the best time to tour the infamously famous book store! But, we all found a book or two. (I found a lot more, but was limiting myself to "just one"). Ha ha ha ha ... I think I get as drunk on books as I do on hard cider! ;) (or maybe tequila)

JoBar! Here we come... Happy hour appetizers and an El Diablo Bloody Mary! Oh so pleasant. It was cool inside and we just hung out for a couple of hours, putting in orders for fondue, wings, sliders, cobb salad and pork tacos... What fun!!

Then we wandered around the shops on Trendy-third before finding our way to the "Waiting Room" where we tried one of their "craft cocktails". Barkeep Chaz was a wealth of information and fascinating fount of Portland bar history!

We headed down to 21st and tucked into a little dive where we could cool off... Ahhh! Ice water and a hard cider. Great Patio, but too hot!

We headed over to the Blue Moon. Played shuffleboard, crazy 8's at the table and 21. Ordered some humus and veggies... then back to the 21st Ave dive bar for some Karaoke fun! Too shy to sing at the Alibi Lounge the night before, we made up for it here!

SUNDAY:
Brunch on the 30th floor of Big Pink! Portland City Grill: what a view!! Had my first chicken & waffles experience! Tons of dungeness crab, baked steelhead w/ rice, prime rib, Belgian waffle w/ blueberries, and coffee!

Then a stroll around the Saturday Market where I had my cards read, got a necklace, met Cynthia (the owner of the Jelly Bean where I used to spend all my hard earned cash in high school). She's down to just the booth at the market now, but has a wholesale business! Met some other artists and saw some really cool stuff! Crazy fun!!

Headed home via I-5 until exit 72, then took the back roads all the way up to South Center Mall. Along the way we stopped in at a little Pub (near Spanaway) where we had our dinner and some great service! Thanks Kim. You're the best!! :D

A great time and fabulous weather, but coming home to little Tex yelping and greeting us with so much joy: Priceless!
The cat of course appeared aloof, but he wasn't! Rowmyo was purring with a contentedly happy heart! <3
